After thousands of public nominations, months of evaluation, and repeated anonymous visits to finalist bakeries around the globe, the 2025 search for the World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls led us to one place that delivered that moment with remarkable consistency.
The 2025 World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls are made at Sunday Morning, a bakery located in New York City’s East Village.
Our process is intentionally rigorous and deliberately slow. Nominations are submitted by the public. Reviews and patterns are analyzed over many months. By October 4th, National Cinnamon Roll Day, our team narrowed the field to twelve finalist bakeries. From there, our judges revisited each bakery multiple times, always unannounced, always experiencing the rolls exactly as any customer would. And yes, we stood in line like everyone else.
No special treatment. No advance notice. No pay to play.
Every roll was evaluated using our standardized judging system, scoring presentation, aroma, texture, flavor balance, frosting ratio, freshness, and the less tangible but essential magic factor. That final category is where great cinnamon rolls separate themselves from good ones.
